A Sea Map Like None Other
The Magna Carta or the Carta Marina?
Not to be confused with the Magna Carta, the Carta Marina is a detailed map of the Nordic countries created by Olaus Magnus in 1539. The map is known for its intricate depictions of sea monsters, ships, and other maritime elements, as well as its colorful illustrations of various regions and landmarks. The Carta Marina is considered one of the most important maps of the 16th century and is still studied and admired by historians and cartographers today.
